Transformation strategy for the buildings of a historic factory complex in Apeldoorn

For the municipality of Apeldoorn, JDWA is working on development scenario’s that will be guiding the development of the historical Zwitsal site.

On the scale of the individual building we sketched different scenario’s and looked at how future and current functions are supplementary, both spatially and programmatically. We look to strike a balance between existing tenants, the municipality and future users. The protection of the historical ensemble is of highest priority, as is the complimentary functioning of the site in relation to the city of Apeldoorn.

Our development scenario’s will form the basis of exploitation models, renovation strategies and policy proposals for the entire factory complex. This basis will help the municipality to make investment decisions. Furthermore, the visualizations will communicate an attractive future perspective for potential tenants and investors, communicating the qualities the site has to offer.

Status: Study 2019
