Together with partners PosadMaxwan, Felixx Landscape Architects & Planners and DeltaRes (DeltaLab), Woonwerk Architecten has been selected to help shape the future transformation of the SVK site in Sint-Niklaas.
The site is one of the largest brownfield sites in Flanders, requiring that remediation strategies and development scenarios are simultaneously investigated.
What was once a closed industrial enclave will gradually transform into an open, healthy urban district that will provide space for living, working and high-quality public spaces, ensuring that it’s history is given a visible and respectful place.
“With respect for the past and heritage, we are building a new city district with a special character and distinct identity: an urban landscape of memory.”
— Johan De Wachter, founder of Woonwerk Architecten
