We are thrilled to be selected by Housing Association LeegGoed to transform the existing social housing estate Heide in Bergom, Belgium.
The neighborhood is a sub-village of Herselt, located on the edge of Landscape Park De Merode and surrounded by the pine forests of Hertberg.
The 34 outdated homes no longer meet the contemporary living standards and are not optimally situated. Rather than renovate, we propose the replacement construction of 42 new homes that meet the needs of the residents who will then truly enjoy the qualities of this special site.
The design is built around two ideas: the creation of a garden park, connecting the playground with adjacent green spaces, and the transformation of the neighborhood into a car-free living environment.
Both principles are enhanced by the forests, whose natural beauty softens and shapes the character of the streetscape.
The project will be delivered in three phases, minimizing disruption for residents, and allowing as many people as possible to remain in their homes throughout construction.
