Hendrik Benjamins

Hendrik has a broad background in construction and the built environment, having completed both vocational (MBO) and applied sciences (HBO) programs in architectural engineering / building technology. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in architecture at the Rotterdam Academy of Architecture and Urban Design. During his studies, Hendrik has gained experience at various design offices, ranging from small-scale residential designs to large-scale housing projects. In his current graduation project, he focuses on designing an adaptable residential building that remains high-quality and livable over a long period of time. The project explores three design themes: Shearing Layers, polyvalence, and Great Space. Through these themes, Hendrik investigates how future-proof architecture can be created that can respond to changing needs and circumstances. By combining practical experience with academic depth, Hendrik aims to develop designs that are both functional and resilient over time, with a focus on the long term and on the evolving requirements of residents and users.
